Drainage normalization along Jalan Kebon Kacang 3, RT 09/RW 03, Tanah Abang is on track for completion by late October, according to the Central Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency (SDA).
Targeting full completion by the end of October
Tanah Abang SDA Operational Unit Head Eli Menawan Sari explained that the 100-meter drain is being normalized after narrowing over time, reducing its capacity and triggering localized floods.
"To restore proper capacity, the old drain is being upgraded with standard 40x40x120-centimeter U-ditches," she expressed, Friday (9/11).
Channel Normalization in Cempaka Putih Barat to Complete in Late SeptemberTo tackle the overhaul, five sub-agency officers teamed up with three local PPSU personnel.
"They have been on the ground since last week, targeting full completion by the end of October," she added.
The project received appreciation from one of the locals from Kebon Kacang 3.
"We proposed this drainage upgrade during Rembuk RW (neighborhood assembly) and district planning forum (Musrenbang). Thankfully, it's finally becoming a reality, so residents won't have to worry about floods when the rainy season hits," she added.
